Big Top Circus!

Ruth Ann called the other day with news of having won free tickets for the circus at a boy scout fundraiser. Lucky for us, she had two extra tickets and wanted to invite Hugo and I to join them. We met in front of the big tent this afternoon. The man taking my ticket said that it was for general admission and that we should enter to the left. So we headed left. I chose a seat smack dab in the middle of the two rings. Found out later that we were in the premium seats and that the "general admission" seats were the awful things on the end where the acts entered and exited the tent. Oh well. Our seats were awesome and I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

These girls were cool. They were attached to a wire which was strung through a fat loop of their hair on top of their heads. Five guys on the tent floor pulled ropes back and forth which raised and lowered the girls during their act.

Hugo was mesmerized by the camels. They wore beautiful multi-colored hanging tassels from their bridles which swayed as they moved. The camel trainer had them dancing and spinning in small and then wide circles. They pranced quickly to the music while a woman belly danced nearby.

The elephants were and always will be my favorite. In another life I would love to be an elephant trainer. Normally the circus offers elephant rides but not today. NY State has a very sad law that the public can not have close proximity to elephants. Bummer. I really wanted an elephant ride.

Watching the fellow being shot out of the cannon was pretty neato. Loud, but neato. It was their grand finale.

Going to the circus is something everyone should have to experience at least once. It's totally crazy, wacked out entertainment, I mean who came up with the idea of a circus anyway...My kids love to go! All I want is the cotton candy!

I believe it was the Romans who began the tradition of the circus.

Yes, in Roman times they used to shoot performers through the air using catapults and no nets! Now that's exciting entertainment. Looks like a great time was had by all. Congratulations on your lucky seats. You got lucky twice. How 'bout that?
