Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child

Cesar got these fabulous Julia Child cookbooks for me on ebay. I love them. Love the jacket and box colors and the fleur de lies design. Love that they were written to teach the average cook how to "divorce herself from recipes". Many of the titles are in french and I don't know french. I must admit that I am a bit intimidated to try the books out. I'm sure if Julia herself were here right now, she'd wack me over the head with a skillet. She'd tell me what a dumb girl I am because these books were written for precisely a girl like me. So okay. I'll keep reading. Just sitting there on my bookshelf in the kitchen they are so pretty. I do want them to help me make the house smell mouthwatering for my boys!

This past Sunday my girlfriend Gloria gave me this Amish Friendship Bread starter. I am so excited! I've never had a starter before. Tomorrow is day 10 and baking day. I'll also be handing off the starter to other friends, I'm just not sure which friends . . .

There's a recipe for garlic-herb scallops in one of those books that is de-lish! You should find it and try it.
