Christmas Morning
Christmas morning found Marlo and Sabine playing in our bed around 7 am. They don't sleep with us. I repeat, they do not sleep with us, really. Lately, I'm out of bed so often between the one or the other of them, it feels a bit as though I've been sleep walking from one room to the next. So, there on our bed, Christmas morning, the four of us waited for Hugo to awaken. We didn't wait long. He could smell presents in the air!
Hugo flung open his bedroom door and ran down the staircase. We waited... Up the stairs he raced into our room and scrambled up onto our bed to tell his Papa and I, that Santa had come! He shouted out that Santa had wrapped his presents in a different color from our family gifts! I was surprised at how patient Hugo was about how lazily we were with getting ourselves up and out of bed. He waited with us in the nursery, while we changed the girls diapers. He ran first down the stairs, and waited patiently by the tree. More like an old dog, vibrating before a soup bone.
It was a dark morning outside. Papa turned the tree lights on, stoked the fire, and talked about making pancakes. We found our places on the floor and dug into our stockings and then enjoyed the packages under the tree. Buddy did his job well, reporting the goings on and all the wish making in our house this past month.

Good-Bye Girl
Our time with Miss 3 is so, so quickly drawing to a close. Her family is moving out West on December 23rd. Poor Hugo. If anyone is reading this post out there in blogland, and you are a follower of my Hugo, he might need some cheering up words on December 23rd.
Randomly throughout his day, he'll ask if Miss 3 has moved yet. And he'll tell me that she is moving "far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far away." He also has been telling me, "I'm going to marry Miss 3. She is my best girl. She is bea-u-ti-ful! I am going to be part of her family." He begs to see her. He wants to go to her house. He wants her to come to our house. It doesn't matter where they get together, he simply wants to see her.
It was our Christmas Dinner at Church last night. I had signed up to make rolls and everyone was asked to bring something sweet. So I was beginning to make an apple tart for my sweet, when I thought of Hugo and Miss 3. Quickly I dialed up her Momma and asked if she minded if I took her daughter home from the party for a sleep over. She said yes! I decided to tell Hugo only that he had a surprise coming later that night. He was on pins and needles. About drove me nuts with all the asking and far off guessing.
We didn't return home until 9pm or so. The kids giggled in bed till a little before midnight.
If you happen to spy Hugo on the side of the road, with his thumb in the air while holding a sign which reads OUT WEST OR BUST!, please call me.

We had a great time at our Ward's Christmas Dinner and Party! We even had a special surprise of Papa joining us for the evening. Hugo cracked me up as he pretended to be able to read Thing 2's sheet music as they sang Christmas carols. Silly kid! He had been very excited about the possibility of seeing Santa, until he figured out it was only Parker's Papa, not the real Santa. Sorry Eric! The kids spotted you fast! I should also mention that I got to eat my dinner with no interruptions. It was amazing. Before I even entered the Church building, Marlo was hauled off in one direction and Sabine in the other. People would stop by to inform me that they were now holding my child and what would she like to eat? Everyone likes to feed a baby! It felt really nice to eat yummy food and sing and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Really helped to jump start the Christmas juices in me.

Got Our Tree!
The unheard of happened. Cesar had a scout for work this morning in Jersey, and he was home super early! We packed up the kids and drove to our favorite tree farm.
Our family was some sight to behold. Two adults, three children, a van, a truck, a wagon, and a chainsaw. We didn't want any tree sap on the new van, you see. And in record time, we chose a tree, buzzed it down, and loaded everybody, and everything, into our vehicles.
I should mention that it was very cold. Bone chilling. The cold may have helped to speed us all along.
I should also mention that Cesar gave his chainsaw a trial start at home before we left... He wanted to be sure we wouldn't be stuck up on the tree mountain wondering if our saw would work ever, like we were last year.
