Photo Day

I didn't do much today but follow the girls around with my camera phone.  Or was it that they followed me around, and I so happened to have my camera phone at the ready?   The above pic was taken while Cesar was out driving Hugo to school.  I was dressing and the girls showed up pointing out my bum and my tummy and my knees and my toe nail polish saying, "What's dat?" as I dressed as fast as I possible could.  Goodness!  Sabine spied Evie on Papa's side of the bed and ran across the room from me.  Marlo followed quickly behind.  Normally, the girls are pretty gentle with Evie the Cat, but that was not the case today.  Today the girls each had a bit of the devil in them at the very same time, poor Evie.  So they scrambled up onto the bed, rushed the cat while bouncing and roaring and slapping her.  I didn't see it coming.  Evie the Cat vanished in half a second.  Look close below and you'll spy her speedy escape.

Mid morning we had snack time with milk, nectarines, strawberries and cheese sticks.  My feet were chilly so I left the girls at the kitchen counter with their half eaten snacks for the warmth of the fireplace.  Marlo was the first to follow and then Beanie showed close behind.  They climbed all over the sofa and beamed big smiles at me.  I've promised myself that when we buy new furniture for the living room... no more eating on the couch!  At least no eating on the couch if you are under 4 feet tall!

After dinner tonight I had all three kids line up against the inside of the door frame of our new closet in the dining room.  I measured their height to confirm what I already had guessed, Marlo is an entire inch taller than her sister Sabine!  Marlo weighs 30lbs, Sabine 21lbs., Marlo wears a size 7 shoe while Sabine is still a 6.  They both wear 2T clothing but the way the clothing fits their bodies is soooo different.  Amazing.  These sisters couldn't be more different.

Hugo is on his way to being a very good reader.  We are proud of him and his willingness to learn and try new things.  Hugo is happy about most things happening in his young life except for one very important thing.  Hugo hasn't lost any teeth yet and doesn't even have one loose tooth!  He doesn't like this bit of information much.

Garden Surprises

It just keeps raining.  We've had so much rain in the past three days, that school was canceled this morning.  I am nervous our trees will simply topple over.

This pretty bird flew straight into one of our windows.  I heard the smacking sound and ran for the door knowing what I would find.  Sometimes the bird is simply stunned and I try to save it before Evie the Cat has a chance to pounce.  She was onto the scent, but I beat her to the bird only to find it a gonner.  I carried him inside to show Hugo and then placed him under the hydrangea.  Evie had to drag the poor thing out into the grass to be sure it was dead.  Our murderous cat.

Hugo and I decided that we have ignored the garden long enough and went out to investigate.  He found all sorts of tiny watermelons we've never seen before.  Along with tiny zucchini, cucumbers and giant green beans.  My gardening skills get a big ole F+ this year!

Mommy School

Hugo and I have been holding Mommy School while the girls nap the past little while.  Surprisingly, he reminds me each day.  Today we sat out in the sunshine and he chose pages to cut from his Kumon book.  He is really looking forward to his new big school where Cheyenne, Jared, Kacey, and Rachel all attended.  I've realized Hugo doesn't know his address or my phone number.  Hugo does not know his birthday.  Hugo can skip and he can balance on one foot.  Hugo can write his first name, just not his last.  We have work to do.

After dinner we generally head upstairs for a quick bath before bedtime.  Hugo loves to bathe with his sisters.  Tonight I found myself wondering if a fourth could fit comfortably in the tub?  And Evie left me a present.

Miracle of Miracles

As I gave Evie the Cat the boot out the door this morning, I heard a flock of birds singing.  Really, it was like a bird chorus out there.  I think my husband might be right, spring finally is around the corner.

P.S.  Marlo says "sha" for her shoosha and she says "sock".  Marlo also makes a spider for the Itsy Bitsy Spider song.  Sabine is stuck on "uh-oh".

Two Things

I've got two things to report.

A.  Marlo loves Evie.  I may not always know where Evie is in the house, but Marlo does.

B.  Hugo has been excellent after school for two days in a row.  Woo hoo!  He told me today, that he wants "to be the best listener ever!"

Okay, okay... I've got three things to share.

C.  I don't want to forget the sight of our girls crawling about the house.  I feel like they'll be walking soon, so there is this need to take lots of pics, of the end of their crawling days, inside me.
