Happy Birthday Cesar!

This is Cesar's birthday weekend and his parents, brother Rafael and the cousins Charlie and Sofia arrived at our house late, late last night.  The temperature today was cool, the light was shady at best and the weather turned out to be drippy, drippy, drippy.  Inside the house we were warm and cozy.  We were all on a cycle of eat, sleep, talk, bounce the girls, eat, sleep, sleep, eat, and talk!  Except for Hugo.  He talked, talked, talked, ran, jumped, talked, rolled, brake danced, talked, talked, ate and crashed.  I tried to make my Grandma Marge's Newlywed cake for Cesar's birthday party this morning.  I should have taken photos early on and am very sorry that I didn't because... it turned out to be a disaster!  It went allll wrong.  Back to apple pie for Cesar for next year!  The one thing I got right was trick candles this year and they worked beautifully.  It was nice to see Cesar with all smiles as he blew out the candles a few times over.  Happy Birthday Darlin' Darlin'!  We all love you.

Batman Meets Mr Incredible

Hugo loves Batman.  Hugo wants to be Batman or even Manbat.  Hugo has zero interest in Robin.  Today, Hugo told me that there is even, hold your horses her folks...  a Batgirl.  Did you know that Mom?!  Do you know about Batgirl?

I love how our Batman's drawers droop in these pics!  I love how he can barely keep his utility belt up on his nonexistent hips.  Take a guess at how many times I was asked to readjust the Velcro closure at the back of the belt.  Finally, I told our Batman that his maid that I am was on strike.  He needed to attend to his clothing malfunctions himself for the rest of playtime.  He has gone away in search of a new Alfred.

Marlo, Marlo, Marlo

Poor little Marlo.  Her scalp is still full of cradle cap.
Over the weekend, Cesar asked if I bathe her.

I rubbed EVOO into her scalp,
then scrubbed her up with a surgical brush before shampooing her clean.
She loved it.  No, really she did!

With all the oiling and scrubbing that went on tonight, Marlo is going to have some serious punker hair in the morning.  After I tucked Hugo into bed, I checked on the girls and immediately knew I needed photos of her sleeping coif.  Am even tempted to sneak up there now and see how or if it has changed!  So for all of you who are still unsure which girl is which, on the left is Marlo, sweet Sabine is on the right.

Good-Bye Junga Ahn

Miss Junga Ahn and Kenny leave for Korea tomorrow morning.  They will be gone for an entire year while Peter is in Kuwait.  We had a good-bye lunch at Panera with Mia, Alan and my girls.  The girls were angels.  You should have seen the crowd they drew, we feel like a circus act some days.

Adobo, Malotov And A Backpack

When Annabelle called to say they were driving up from Baltimore for a visit, she asked what I might like from Maryland.  Adobo!  I told her she needed to make me some of her tasty adobo while she was here, and she did.  I dialed up Momsha for her Malotov recipe, again.  I wrote it down in my book this time!  So, Belle and I spent the morning cooking away in the kitchen for our afternoon farewell lunch.

While playing Lego Batman, Mike told Hugo they were leaving today.  Hugo asked if he could go home with them and Mike said "sure" to the cling-on kid.  Hugo told Mike not to move, that he was going to get his backpack.  We all thought he was so cute and laughed at the flash that ran up the stairs.  Not soon after, he was back with his pack and informed Mike that he was ready and had all his jammies in his bag!

Good Friends

They're here!  Mike and Annabelle are here!
I knew I missed them, but didn't know exactly how much I missed them.
Until I hugged them.
Goodness how we've changed and have also stayed the same.
I'm a Momma of three now.
Bella is wishing to be a Grandmother!  A Grandmother!
Mike is sweet and smiley as ever.
Hugo was in love at first sight.  Was stuck like glue to Tio Mike.
Cesar has his eyes on the Adobo prize.
